Festival organizer, Dina Jiner, recently told local ABC affiliate WWSB she intends on moving the chalk festival back to Venice next year. The real news came out when there was a small reaction in the SRQ community. A handful of residents who refer to themselves as “chalkies” are upset the festival won’t be taking place in Sarasota.
Scientists worked for a full year analyzing what the Sarasota community cares about and their results showed the chalk festival was completely off the radar. Scientific research always has a small margin of error and in this case, that margin was present albeit very small. Due to the error, a new year-long research study has been started. Sarasota County has given the scientists a grant of $250,000 to figure out why this small audience actually gives a shit about the event.
