Jameis Winston Intentionally Loses Rose Bowl to Avoid Being Drafted by Buccaneers

Florida State Seminole fans were in shock as they watched their star quarterback flail, flounder and fumble away a chance at the FBS National Championship Thursday night. Even more shocking are the reports that he intentionally threw the game. It was not a nefarious point-shaving plot. It was, in fact, a calculated career move.

According to an anonymous source out of Tallahassee, Winston was witnessed “Wringing his hands and muttering to himself, ‘Tennessee Titans, here I come.’ ” The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have secured the first pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, and their main target will be a franchise quarterback. The Tennessee Titans have the 2nd pick, and have a similar need. All season, the debate for who will be the overall #1 pick has been between Oregon’s Marcus Mariota and FSU’s Jameis Winston. Winston’s performance on Thursday against Oregon appears to have been intentionally horrible in order to settle that debate.

SRQ News reached out to local sports legend, Rick Vigor for his analysis. He told us, “The Bucs are a notoriously terrible NFL franchise, and nobody wants to waste the beginning of their career on that team. The player they choose in the upcoming draft will more than likely wallow in the basement of the league until they are miraculously traded to a title contender, or just doomed to bide their time until they can be a free agent.”

Whether or not the reports of Jameis’ motives are true, this may have been the smartest thing he’s ever done.
